The MiniDV tape format was launched in 1995 and soon became the most popular camcorder format among consumers, until it was surpassed by memory cards in the mid-2000s. While it was a fairly reliable format, the tapes degrade over time (especially if stored in sub-optimal conditions), so the race is on to convert old recordings to a more-easily copyable solution. Most MiniDV camcorders use a Firewire port to allow digital transfers, however Firewire ports are no longer found on modern computers.
We offer a service to digitally transfer MiniDV cassettes to .mp4 files on a USB Pen Drive so that you can preserve your memories and easily share those videos with your friends and family.
Prices start at €30 per tape (including a USB Pen Drive and return shipping). Please note that this service is only available in the Canary Islands due to customs issues when receiving tapes from elsewhere. Bulk rates are available for multiple miniDV cassette transfers.
